Maths Averages - Week6

This week in maths we have been focusing on averages, ratios, range and median. We are making a chart for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and I'm choosing to time my Basic Facts everyday for the 5 days to see what time I get for my basic facts everyday out of 100. Everyday we have 5 minutes to try answer as many basic facts maths questions as we can, and everyday I get 100 out of 100 so I can't see how many questions I get right. But because we have 5 minutes I can record the times I do everyday and find the average time I get every week.

Maths Ratios Week6 - Fruit Kebabs

This week in maths we have been focusing on ratios, averages, range and median. We made fruit kebabs in class to see the ratios of the fruit we're putting on our kebab sticks. I put 2 strawberries, 2 grapes, and 2 marshmallows on my kebab which is 2 : 2 : 2. Simplified that is 1 : 1 : 1.

Mali Country Study

This term T2 & T3 are doing something new called Country Study. Everybody is assigned a country randomly and they have to create something that they can present eg. Google Slide, Brochure, etc. On whatever they choose to present it on, they have to include the population of the country, the language they speak, the capital city, and the currency etc. The country I was assigned is a country called Mali in West Africa which is one of the biggest countries in Africa and one of the poorest. The Google Slide I have been working on with all of my information is down below.

Descriptive Halloween Writing

This week in T3 we have to write a scary descriptive writing narrative for Halloween. The story I have written is about 2 murderers on the loose who kidnap a girl and a group of other people dressed like them burn down her house. If you would like to read my story it is down below.

30.10.18 - Devil’s Night.

I’m home alone, and I hear on the news about 2 murderers who are on the loose. I look out the window to my backyard, and there are 2 men standing outside in the dark. It’s 3am, and they look exactly like how the news described the murderers, they both had grey baggy hoodies and pants, and so did a group of people around them. The 2 men see me, and start pointing and laughing at my window. I gulp, picking up the phone next to me and dial 111. I look back out the window and press the phone to my ear, and notice they’re a lot closer to the house now. Suddenly, I hear a loud explosion behind me. I collapse to the ground, and see a burst of flames in my room. The walls have exploded, and my head is ringing because it hit the wall when the fire exploded. I hear a lot of laughter, and it feels like 2 men are carrying me to a vehicle. I get thrown into the boot, and through the gap of the lid, I see fire everywhere, all the other people were pouring gas and lighter fluid around and through the smashed windows and door. As I type this on my phone, the car suddenly stops and I drop my phone. It’s now somewhere inside of the boot of the car and I can’t move to try find it. I hear people singing to the car radio, and when the song finishes, I hear “Breaking News, 10 men have been spotted setting a house on fire nearby and fire fighters weren’t able to put it out. So far, fire fighters haven’t been able to find any bodies, but witnesses say there were people home at the time.”
The radio stops and I hear a loud smash. It sounded like something had hit the radio with something like a bat.

Tapa Cloth Art with T2

On Wednesday I started to draw my tapa cloth for our calendar art. I drew it with pencil, then on Thursday added Indian Ink to the outlines to give it that black colour. Today the ink dried and we will be adding a coffee stain to the cloth to give it that brown colour. I chose these designs because the flowers were simple, and I liked the look of them. I chose the black and white triangles because I thought they looked cool. I did the koru design because it looked cool on the paper we were given with designs on it, and the squares behind the koru came up with a google image search for tapa cloth.

My Tie Dye T-Shirt

Yesterday I started to create my tie dye T-Shirt for our Art Soiree at school. We had to choose a size of shirt that will fit us and then they were ordered for us to tie dye them. I put on gloves, and then I crumpled up my t-shirt into a ball. I soaked the top, then added Pink 'Fuschia' dye onto my shirt. After that, I put the shirt into a plastic bag overnight so it would be ready for today. This morning, I rinsed the shirt and I had to wring all of the excess dye out of the shirt. Then I hung it up so it will dry and so it can be worn. We are going to be auctioning the shirts at the Art Soiree next Friday and I want to buy my shirt so I hope not too many people bid on it! The most common design in my class was spiral but I chose crumple because I thought it looked the best. Take a look at my tie dye shirt here.
